How to Know if You have STD

STDs or sexually transmitted diseases are diseases or infections transmitted through sexual contact with one who is infected with the disease. With CDC statistics, cases of STD spread-out have been increasing every year. This is why the local governments and concerned organizations have come up with ways to inform people with what is STD and how to prevent it as well as how to stop the spreading out of the disease. The internet now is a great source of information on STDs and ways to avoid and treat it. Aside from the help of technology, health centers are now equipped with information for them to easily share with their patients and clients. Proper knowledge and information will help people learn and be concerned with their health as well with their partners.

Most STDs do not show any signs or symptoms. You may not know that a person is infected with the disease just by looking at their physical appearance. One may be looking healthy but may be infected with STD already. The best way to know if one is infected is to have him or her tested. There are now health centers in some states that offer STD testing. This a good way to help those who are suspecting to be infected with STD. The test actually confirms one's health condition. It may only need urine or swab samples from the patient for laboratory testing. Once diagnosed with STD, the patient can immediately seek treatment from a doctor. This prevents further damage to his or her health. And it also prevents the spread of the disease to his or her partner.

There are several types of STD that can be cured such as genital wart, Chlamydia and gonorrhea. These diseases can be treated with proper medications. One may be prescribed with dosages of antibacterial drugs until the disease is completely eliminated. On the other hand, there are also types of STDs that has no cure. This means that the disease or virus is within your system for life. Such diseases are HIV and AIDS. These are fatal diseases and may require more medications. A person diagnosed with untreatable diseases may take antiviral drugs to control the spread of the virus onto the other body parts. This also controls the severity of the disease, which makes the feeling of the patient be normal again.

However, if you would still want to retain your health privacy, then having a home kit is recommended. This way, you do not need to go to a health center and have yourself tested for STD. You can just send in your blood sample using the home kit and the result will be sent to you via mail. You are also not required to put in your name for your privacy.
There are several ways to check if you have STD, it just needs your courage to face it. Take time to take the proper treatment that should be followed. These are ways to have STD out of your system.
