How to Purchase A laptop

If you want to purchase a laptop computer then you should probably do a bit of research before you even get started. One of the biggest mistakes that people make when they go to buy a new computer is that they spend way too much money and don't even end up getting the features that they really want. For example, you might spend a lot of money on a new machine and get the latest chips in it and have lots of processing power and plenty of speed, but in reality you might do better to have a lighter weight laptop that also gets phenomenal battery life. Most people do not even realize these kinds of trade offs until they have already purchased a new machine are stuck with it.

That is where comparison shopping comes in. If you take the time to do your homework and figure out the features that you really want in a laptop then you will be much happier with your purchase. Here is one way you might go about it, start with the netbooks and work your way up.

Netbooks are the mini laptops that are small and cheap and pretty much have flooded the market these days. Go to a store and test one out and do at least ten minutes of typing on it. Also do some reading and figure out if you are comfortable using that as your main laptop. If it is too small to be comfortable for you then go one size bigger, like a thirteen inch screen. You want to keep it small because then it will be lighter, more portable, and get better battery life. As you get larger and larger you lose all those benefits and the machine becomes clunky and less desirable. So start with a small netbook, test it out, and see if you like it. Then go from there.
