How to find a good babysitter

Finding a good babysitter can be a very difficult task if you're new to it. When you haven't let anyone else watch your baby before, it's hard to trust someone with that responsibility. Whether you only have to leave your child for a few hours or maybe even a few days with this person, you want it to be someone that you can feel safe about. Not everyone is cut out to be a babysitter.

Look through your local phone book and see if there are any babysitting agencies you can call. Find out if the company has a reputable name. If you have friends or relatives with young children, ask them if they know of any good babysitters in the area. Continue to call around until you have a list of 5 to 10 possibilities.

Next, you're going to want to set up an interview with each of the possible babysitters. It's best to set up the appointment at your residence. This way you can talk to him/her face-to-face, you can see how they interact with your child, you can talk about prices/costs, or whatever else is on your mind. Request some references from the applicant to call, especially if they do not work for an agency. After making all the phone calls and verifying all the references comes the most important part.

Take the information you have on all the possible applicants and get a background check done. Even after having an interview face-to-face, you need to know what the person who is going to watch your child has a history of doing. Looks can be deceiving and it's best to look up the facts on someone rather than trust them with your child after the first time you meet them.So basically, here's what you do - look around locally for babysitters or babysitting agencies, compile a list of possible babysitters, interview face-to-face, call their references, check their background, and make your choice. It's that simple!
