How to Plan a Successful Baby Shower

Baby Showers were organised even in ancient times. However, with time, the nature and manner in which they are conducted has changed drastically. Here are a few tips for planning a successful baby shower.

1. It is important to find out about the customs and traditions that the would-be parents believe in. An ideal baby shower should be planned according to what is acceptable in their cultures.

Even in modern times like these, some people have deep seated cultural values and you must always respect them. This would make the shower more memorable and enjoyable.

2. If it is possible, get the would be-parents to make a list of all the things they would be needing for the baby. Once this is done, try and get gifts from this very list. Though it takes away the element of surprise, it is very practical and helpful for the parents, who otherwise have to buy a lot of things for their baby.

3. The timing of the baby shower should be perfect. It should not be either too late or too early. Calculate an ideal date according to the scheduled date of pregnancy. Also, if it is too late all the gifts might go in vain as the couple might have already bought a lot of things for the baby.

4. Pregnancy can be extremely tiring for the expecting mother, especially if it's her first pregnancy. Make sure that she doesn't exert herself at all during the shower and try and have the shower closer to her place.

5. Take extra effort to make the perfect guest list. After all, these are the people who are going to make the shower special. Talk to the couple and include the people they would like to have at the baby shower. It is their baby's shower, not yours.

6. The catering must be attended to very carefully. Serving food for a group of people can often get messy. Make sure that there is ample food and it is served efficiently. Be prepared for any emergencies in this department.

7. Last but not the least, have a few sources of entertainment at the party. You don't want the guests to get bored. Board games, puzzles or even karaoke can work wonders on baby showers. You could even request the guest to write poems for the baby or the couple beforehand.
